PERMIT TO TAP AND/OR EXTEND WATER LINES - PROCEDURES
Bradford Water & Sewer Commission

Permission to tap and/or extend or any changes to the water lines in Bradford, VT may be granted subject to the following conditions:
1. Formal written application must be made to the Water & Sewer Commission providing details about location, type and amount of proposed usage, property owners, and the applicant. Extension means anything before the curbstop. Any leak that happen on the owners side of the curbstop is the responsibility of the owner. The Water Commission may order the owner to fix it or shut off the service with proper notice.
2. All applications shall be reviewed by the Water & Sewer Commission to consider the effects that the proposed usage may have upon the system, before construction starts. If permit is granted, it may have limitations, and such limitations shall be binding on the party making application, and all subsequent property owners and/or water users.
3. The applicant shall be responsible for all installation and maintenance costs of any extended water line. An extended water line shall remain the property of the applicant until such time as the Water & Sewer Commission votes to accept and takes possession of, said water line. The Water & Sewer Commission is under no obligation now or in the future to accept ownership of any water line.
4. All materials used must be approved by the Water & Sewer Commission, prior to installation.
5. All work performed shall be inspected on-site by, and be approved by, the System Operator and/or one Water & Sewer Commissioner prior to cover and burial.
6. A service shut-off, also known as a “curbstop” shall be installed at a location to be determine by the System Operator or the Water & Sewer Commissioners. This shut-off shall be at the expense of the applicant and shall become the property of the Bradford Water & Sewer Commission immediately upon installation.
7. The Water & Sewer Commission requires the installation of a water meter and back flow preventer at the applicant’s expense.
8. All service shut-off valves at the property, and all other valves on the water system shall be opened or closed only by an authorized representative of the Water & Sewer Commission. Any violation of this regulation may result in physical disconnection from the water system at the property owner’s expense.
9. Hook on and impact fees must be paid prior to actual hook on.
